Hi, I’m Rebecca
...and if you’ve got this far you’re probably motivated to make some kind of change to your life or business. Great let's do this together!
My journey to becoming a coach started a long time ago, it just took me a while to realise it. I originally qualified as a pharmacist but always had a bit of a niggling feeling that it wasn’t for me, I always yearned to do something that involved my real passions – gardening and being outdoors. At the same time I always felt very conflicted - feeling like I ought to be maximising my potential and seeking success in my career and so I went back to University – studied for an MBA and embarked on a corporate career in the pharmaceutical industry. Guess what that didn’t seem to work for me either! Although I enjoyed the job and my colleagues and customers I just never seemed to fit in – and I found the whole corporate life exhausting and unfulfilling. I always felt like a square peg in a round hole – 80% happy but left feeling like there was something I was missing.
Over the years I’d read every self-help book going, developed a real interest in psychology and neuroscience and had some coaching myself. Eventually I finally dawned on me that my real passion was people and the moments I had been truly fulfilled and happy in my jobs was when I was supporting others, being a great listener and helping colleagues to work through and find their own solutions to different challenges.
In 2017 after several years of moving around the country and after years of juggling being a mum with corporate life, I moved to Cumbria with my husband and son, living on the very edge of the beautiful Lake District. Finally, this felt great…I was still working in a challenging industry, working the long hours but I had the space and time to think more clearly about what was important to me and what I wanted. It didn’t take me long before I decided to follow my lifelong dream, quit corporate life and retrain as a coach. Of course in typical scientist fashion I researched literally every single coaching course in the UK, before settling on Barefoot Coaching. I trained with them at the beginning of 2018 and it was a truly life-changing experience.
I set up Space and Clarity Coaching in June 2018 and the rest as they say is history....but it doesn't end there. In 2022 at the ripe old age of 50 I finally got the answers to the whole 'square peg / round hole' thing when I was diagnosed ADHD. All that not quite fitting in, burning out and driving myself crazy with my multiple unfinished projects, business ideas coming out of my ears and hopeless admin made sense and I've been able with the help and support of some great people and a wonderful network to find a really productive way forward and now I'm just about to take on some more training to become a fully qualified ADHD coach to help others just like me.
My coaching practice draws a lot on the healing power of nature and the joy of being outdoors and I frequently do 'walking coaching' with clients. I also run retreats, online and face to face group coaching and business bootcamps. If you think I might be a good fit for you and you're needing a coach who is facilitative, gentle but will also push you respectfully beyond your comfort zone then please do book a free, no obligation discovery call.
